Learn what to expect during your telemedicine visit

Learn what to expect during your telemedicine visitTelemedicine is growing in popularity, especially after our world has been rocked by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). As you hear about more people having virtual appointments, and think about scheduling one for yourself, you might be wondering what to expect during your telemedicine visit.

To help you feel confident going into your appointment, our Tennessee fertility doctors are explaining what you need to know. In this blog, you’ll learn about everything from how to prepare for your virtual appointment to what this visit will be like.

How to prepare for your virtual appointment

Once you schedule your appointment, you don’t need to do much to prepare. With telemedicine, you can forget about worries like traffic and parking. However, you should still take a few steps to make sure your virtual visit is a success.

  • Be sure to give us an accurate phone number that can receive texts. We will use this number to send you a text message with a link to use for your appointment.
  • Check to make sure you have a stable internet connection and a phone that will allow you to video chat with your doctor.
  • Identify a quiet and private space for your visit and create a list of questions and concerns to ask during your call.

This little bit of preparation will help you make the most of your time with your doctor, bringing you one step closer to welcoming a healthy baby.

A look at what to expect during your telemedicine visit

Going into your appointment, you can feel confident that you’ll receive comprehensive and personalized care. During each visit, our Tennessee fertility doctors focus only on the patient they’re currently seeing, just like an in-person appointment.

Are you still wondering what to expect during your telemedicine visit? The process is fairly straightforward.

  • If it’s your first appointment, you’ll discuss your medical history, including any previous pregnancies, diagnostic test results and fertility treatments. Your doctor will then review your treatment options based on your answers.
  • If you’re having a follow-up appointment, your doctor will ask you to provide an update about how you’re feeling and how treatment is working. He or she may also make further diagnostic and treatment recommendations.

Keep in mind that a telemedicine visit won’t be right for all your healthcare needs. In some cases, our Tennessee fertility doctors will need to examine and treat you in person. After all, technology hasn’t progressed far enough to allow us to perform ultrasounds and embryo transfers remotely.

If you’re wondering if a virtual appointment is right for you, contact us. Our team will help you decide and get you scheduled as soon as possible, allowing you to move one step closer to your dream of parenthood.
