Fertility legislation – Making a difference on Advocacy Day

Fertility legislation – Making a difference on Advocacy DayOvation Fertility™ and its partner physicians are committed to improving the lives of men and women who are struggling with infertility. As part of this commitment, some of our reproductive endocrinologists participate in RESOLVE Advocacy Day – and this year they are excited to announce a new proposal for life-changing fertility legislation.

A look at the proposed fertility legislation

Although states like Connecticut and New Jersey currently have laws that deal with infertility insurance, these policies still don’t include everyone. Much like our fertility specialists, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and Senator Cory A. Booker want to build upon existing state laws to ensure that all Americans who need and want fertility services receive insurance coverage to access them.

The Access to Infertility Treatment and Care Act has been introduced in both the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate to help individuals and families facing infertility in two ways:

  • It would require health plans offered on the group and individual markets, in addition to the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, TRICARE and the VA, to provide infertility coverage.
  • It would ensure that these plans also cover fertility preservation for men and women who must undergo medically necessary procedures that may cause infertility, such as chemotherapy and radiation.

If this proposed fertility legislation becomes law, it means that thousands of individuals and families will have access to the fertility services they need to build the families they deserve.

Supporting this fertility legislation

Ovation Fertility and our partner physicians join a long list of organizations who support this legislation, which includes RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

To help this fertility legislation become law, please contact your senators and representatives to let them know that you support the Access to Infertility Treatment and Care Act, and that you would appreciate their support of this legislation as well.
