Embryo Cryopreservation, Freezing

Embryo Cryopreservation, Freezing

After your embryo transfer is completed, there may be good quality embryos remaining that could be cryopreserved or frozen for use in a future Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) cycle. Currently about 50% of our patients that undergo embryo transfer will have one or more embryos cryopreserved. In anticipation that you will have frozen embryos, it is a good idea to think about what you will do with those embryos if you are finished building your family.

Your options may change in the future, but current disposition options are to discard, donate to research, donate to another couple, or to remain in storage. Your IVF consent form will ask you to make some decisions regarding disposition, but if you ever change your mind about what you want to do with your embryo(s), we can help you with that process. It is very important if you do have embryos in storage at NFC, that you always update us with any changes of your contact information so we may reach you.
